Proquindus S.A. show fabric that protect against UV rays
Proquindus S.A. - a textile producer and service provider with more than 50yrs in the Chilean market - introduced textiles with UV protection to the market. General Manager Fernando Lopez Tarres mentions that agreement was signed in Feb. 2007 with Chemical Giant Huntsman, that allows Proquindus to use of the High IQ brand name for sun protection. It's an immense global campaign that uses the labels to communicate the benefits to consumers.
The High IQ for sun protection concept was developed in Chile by Fernando Lopez and Huntsman TE manager, Manuel Pendas to offer protection on clothing against UV rays, which are big contributor to skin cancer. The product is targeted at children, athletes and people who work outdoors.
"In the market today we find clothing with UPF 50+, which means it can block 98% of the UV-A and UV-B rays coming from the sun for more than 10 hours on the areas of the body covered". The innovative company Proquindus offers retailers clothing with these characteristics in synthetic fibers and natural fibers like jerseys, t-shirts, gamuza, franela, rib, and others. Also in synthetic and natural fiber fabrics like cotton, polyester, and polyamide.
It can also be applied to flat, woven fabrics like raincoats and poplines. It's important to note that textiles treated with this technology keep their original softness and breathability qualities, along with the added protection even after various washing cycles, said Fernando Lopez.
